Role / Skills
  • In this role you will report Directly to the General Manager of Marine Quality and Safety.
  • The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level and/or will hold a recognized Maritime qualification suitable for the job of Ship or Vessel Operator.
  • Previous experience is desirable, but being able to demonstrate commercial awareness and experience in similar position may be sufficient.
  • It is essential that you have a “Team Player” attitude.
  • You must be a good communicator both verbally and in written format. Attention to details is also a key skill requirement for this job.
  • Management of cargo and vessels information via file sharing with personnel across the logistics system.
  • Communicate directly with vessels concerning coastal and port work schedules offering clear written instructions at start and during coastal voyages; all with a mind to minimize costs in way of fuel, port venues and labor.
  • Provide stowage plans to Vessel Master, Port Captains and contracted stevedore for each assigned port/terminal in designated services.
  • Order labor for all vessel operations in USEC ports in effort to maximize efficiencies and minimize costs; always with a view to expedite vessels and meet customer’s needs.
  • Communicate cargo operation intentions for loading/discharging, panel arrangements, lashing inventory and final cargo booking with vessels and stevedores.
  • Maintain lash inventories ashore for cargo stuffing and monitor lash needs onboard to ensure adequate gear for RORO load ops.  Making required purchases as needed.
  • Vessel attendance and supervision of cargo operations as required.
  • Assist with line management on proper scheduling.
  • Assist with commercial on roll on roll off (RORO) booking inquiries and possibilities for RORO cargos.
  • Oversee Marine Quality of cargo operations and reporting.
  • Monitor various vendor performances in production/cost efficiencies
  • Issue vessel attendance to local port captains to ensure coverage of various company vessel port ops.  Liaise with same to ensure company interests.
  • Salary $70,000 or commensurate with experience.
