MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR – Buildings & Equipment (B&E)

My client is the world’s leading manufacturer of components and systems for heavy haul railcars. They are seeking a person qualified to take overall responsibility for managing all building and equipment maintenance on their 2nd or 3rd shift at their large-scale manufacturing facility just across the IL-IN line in Indiana (about 20 miles from Chicago). Flexibility to move to either shift is a must. This is a great opportunity for an organized, dependable, self-starter to be a key manager for my client’s maintenance team to ensure the plant runs smoothly and efficiently.

Position Summary:

Maintenance Supervisor of Buildings and Equipment (B&E). This position reports to the Maintenance Manager and has direct supervision of 4-5 maintenance people on your shift.

Major responsibilities include:
  • Maintaining an effective maintenance workforce through interviewing, evaluating, hiring, training, and developing skills of qualified applicants in accordance with labor agreements and safety standards.
  • Monitoring essential metrics to analyze equipment Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), preventative maintenance tasks, inspection reports concerning repairs, frequency of breakdowns, and repair costs
  • Working closely with other department leaders for scheduling of maintenance and repairs to ensure that maintenance needs of all areas are met in a timely manner with minimal downtime or disruption to production schedules
  • Managing your shift’s budget -- controlling inventory for the maintenance of your shift and approving all purchases of equipment, tools, and materials necessary for repairs and maintenance for your shift.
  • Efficiently utilizing the workforce to meet schedules for equipment repairs and maintenance
  • Developing and implementing preventative and predictive maintenance programs to improve OEE and drive down expenses associated with repairs of equipment.
Required Qualifications
  • 4-5 years of experience in industrial maintenance
  • College Degree Experience preferred.
  • Work experience can offset lack of college degree
  •  Experience with production facilities and equipment.
  • Knowledge of carpentry, electric, pipefitting, mechanics, equipment servicing, repair procedures, quality standards
  • Familiarity with safety/OSHA regulations.
  • Prior management experience
  • Some experience in budgets, scheduling, and interviewing. Knowledge of various computer applications a plus (word, excel, SAP)Pay / Benefits: Join our 100% Employee Owned Company
